Google Clarifies GTIN Values Must Be In Numerical Form

Google has quietly updated its product structured data document to specify that the GTIN value must be presented is in numerical form. Google said it does not support the URL form for GTINs.

Google Search Is Very Broken Now: Outages, Indexing Issues, Pages Missing & More

Last night, Google suffered a pretty big outage with Google Search that is still lingering through this morning. It seemed to be larger than just an outage because there are tons of complaints about indexing issues, pages dropping out of the index, and super poor quality and dated search results being shown in Google this morning.

Google Local Spam Now Includes Duplicate Photos, Posts, Videos, and Logos

Google has updated its Business Profile posts content policy to specify that Google now considers duplicate photos, posts, videos, and logos as spam. If you have duplicate photos, posts, videos, and logos on your Google Business Profile, your post may be removed but your listing won't be suspended.

Google Now Supports Pros and Cons Structured Data For Reviews Pages

Google now supports new structured data for pros and cons of editorial review pages. This new markup can be validated in the Rich Results testing tool and other Search Console tools (I assume). Also, Google will prioritize supplied structured data provided by you over automatically extracted data that Google previously showed in Google Search.

July 2022 Google Product Reviews Update Finished On August 2nd & No One Said Anything

So Google has finished the rollout of the July 2022 Google Product Reviews Update in a record-breaking fashion, in a six-day period. It even shocked Google because Google originally estimated 14-21 days for the rollout and Google didn't even mention anything on its social channels about the update being done rolling out.

Google Business Listings Test Photo Overlay Interface In Web Search

Google seems to be testing overlaying the photos of some Google Business Profile listings in the web search results. Typically when you click on a photo in a Google Business Profile listing you are taken into the Google Maps interface to view the photos but this test simply overlays the photos on top of the web search results.

About two weeks ago, Google stopped showing the Things To Know box in the desktop search results but don't fret, it seems to be back now. RankRanger's tracker tool spotted that the Things To Know box has returned to normal levels within Google Search.

Google Updates Searches With Quotes To Show Location Of Page That Contains Quoted Words

Google announced it has changed how it displays search results for queries that use queries. The search snippet will now display the portion of the page where the quotes match, so the searcher knows where to look on the page when clicking through to the URL.

Google Search View In 3D For Some Wayfair Listings

Google first demonstrated view in 3D augmented reality images in the Google Search results back in 2019 and since then we have seen some retailers test it out and Google also use it for cute animals and other objects. But now it seems some core retailers, like Wayfair, is showing some of their products in 3D in Google Search.
