Google: Age Verification Requirement May Prevent Site From Surfacing In Google Discover

Danny Sullivan of Google said on Twitter that he believes that sites that require age verification would not surface in Google Discover. He added he has to confirm this but has not responded in three days since saying this originally.

Google Core Web Vitals No Longer Impacted Pages With Noindex

In 2021, Google said that Core Web Vitals may also be graded based on pages on your site that are noindexed. Well, that is no longer the case according to an updated Google help document. A page that has noindex on it will no longer be factored into your Core Web Vitals and Google Page Experience scores.

Google: Embedding Iframes With NoIndex Does Not NoIndex Your Page

This may be obvious to a lot of folks but embedding iframes can be a confusing topic to many. John Mueller of Google confirmed that if you embed an iframe that contains a meta noindex, it won't result in the page you are embedding the iframe being removed from the Google index.

Google Updates Search Quality Raters Guidelines On July 28th

Google has updated its Google Search Quality Raters Guidelines PDF just a bit over 9 months since the last update. The document keeps getting smaller, from 175 pages in 2020 to 172 pages in 2021 and now to 167 pages in 2022.

Fabrice Canel from Microsoft said on Twitter last night that 5% of all URLs downloaded are over the new BingBot user agent. To take you back, in April, Bing announced a new user agent for its crawler, BingBot.

Google Ads Revenue Up 13.5% & Microsoft Bing Ads Revenues Up 15% But Slowed Growth

Both Google (Alphabet/GOOG) and Microsoft Bing (MSFT) announced earnings last night and while both missed expectations, both earnings were not that bad and their respective stock prices are up after hours. If you zoom into Google Ads revenue, it was up about 13.5% and Bing Ads were up about 15%.

Google is emailing some Google Ads advertisers that they will automatically move some of their conversion actions to data-driven attribution. Google announced data-driven attribution back in September 2021 when it first said it will be moving away from last-click.

Google Maps has updated its photos and videos criteria for the Google Maps user-contributed content policy. Google added selfie photos, excessively dark or blurry images, significantly rotated compositions, and the use of filters that dramatically alter the representation of the place may be removed from Google Maps.

Google Ads For Politics Now Must Be Always Visible, Sufficient Size & Similar Tone

Google is updating its Google Ads Political Content policy next month, in August 2022, to say that ad disclosure must be visible at all times and be of sufficient size, and for audio ads, they must be substantially similar in pitch, tone, and speed.
