Google Ad Revenue Up 3.3% & Bing Ads Revenue Up 8%

Both Google (Alphabet) and Bing (Microsoft) reported earnings last night and both showed that their ad revenues grew. Google Ad revenue was up 3.3%, with overall revenue up 7%. Microsoft Advertising revenue was up 8% with overall revenue up 8% as well.

Google: Spammy Link Networks Share Vulnerable Sources With Each Other

Google's John Mueller said that when a link spammer (or I guess any time of spammer) find a vulnerability on a website, they might share that vulnerability with their network of spammers. So it is important that you close any vulnerabilities on your site not just from a specific spammer but from future spammers who may have been told about your site.

Google's John Mueller seemed to get annoyed the other day around people faking who they are with fake personas. He posted a PSA, public service announcement, on Twitter Monday saying, "PSA making up fake people for your review site is awkward, even with fake Linkedin profiles. Copying YT reviews from others together to make your own is cheap. Submitting it as a ranking question to the office hours, uhm, what do you want us to say?"
